The prior owner of my Turbo had Kevin's check valves (the old ones) put in when the turbos were replaced. Very early in my ownership, the driver's side line started a small leak. My mechanic talked with Kevin, and the new updated lines were ordered and installed. My mechanic also ordered and used the sealant recommended in Kevin's install instructions.

Kevin's concerns were more about a DIY'er using that sealant. If I used too much or if any of it got into the turbos, bad things could happen. I believe that bs was fine with shops using it. You are wise to verify with Kevin. And let me know if you want me to drop it in the mail.

Are you doing the work yourself? I enjoyed doing mine and host of other things while I was in there.

Patrick,

Care to share all the other maintenance items you covered when you put the lines in? I'm about to put my check valve kit in (I'm a fairly experienced wrench) and would like to address anything else that would make sense while I'm in there. Car has 20K.

E.g. spark plugs, wires, clean TB?

Thanks in advance,
Ian

Ian! Here is my list, or at least what I remember as I am out of town now.

Porsche work completed May 2011

R&r turbos*
Turbos rebuilt to K16/24 hybrid standard by Kevin at Ultimate Motorwerks
Turbos ported
Turbo 996 check valves installed with new oil lines
Breeze clamps installed on all intercooler hose connections
Diverter valves replaced with Bosch 710N
Oil changed and replaced with Mobil 1 V-twin 20-50
Oil filters changed
Front differential fluid changed with Mobil 1 75-90
Air filter replaced with oem
Fuel filter replaced
VDO boost gauge installed
GT3 seats installed
Front bumper resprayed
Leading edges of rear bumper resprayed

My plugs were replaced last year. Wires are fine as the engine was new in 2001 during the RUF conversion.

Pat,

Thanks for the quick response. I'll start putting an OCD list together.

Patrick,

did you revise your ECU with the upgrade in turbos? did you install an adjustable fuel pressure regualtor?

Nope. My car was converted to a Ruf turbo r in 2001. Earlier this year, Kevin simply rebuilt mine to Ruf specs plus a little porting. The turbos were leaking.

See turbo r specs elsewhere to see what Ruf does in conversion. ECU is definitely a part of the conversion

OK, back in US. I dropped the price as I'll do just about anything not to list on ebay!

But on Friday, I'll pop it on the flea.....

Bought my oil feed check valve and line from Turbo Kraft in Phoenix, AZ. Well made and $400 for the kit. Hope this helps.

Brad, your rockers were scuffed and pitted. To grind and reharden your existing rockers would have left them in too thin. Similar to resurfacing a flywheel or rotors. The Moss crew was quoted the cost and a check was promised. 120 days later zero monies showed up. I received your email and told you to call me. The number is 360.805-9066 There is a balance owed.

Parsonii, the price of my kit will go up to $495.00 when Porsche America runs out of the factory 996TT check valves. I have to pay a higher price to secure the valves. The price when the kit was released was $295.00, the retail price of the kit is $495.00 A discount is available to my customers and when I can provided it. The kit has been re-designed 3 times. Porsche has changed the chack valve design twice which impact the thread depth/fitting design.
