Thumbs up Excellence Turbo Buyers Guide

Just an fyi. The October issue of Excellence, now on news stands, confirms prices of '96 and '97 993 turbos are increasing after the recessionary dip. Interesting to note the price difference between the '97 and '96 model years is merely 0.9% in 2011 and 0.8% in 2010 for cars in the higher price range. There is a 59% premium on S models and they continue to appreciate faster than the non S models.

Good to see, Ronnie. This is what several of us have been saying for months.

While I think those trends are probably right, the Excellence prices are so far off that it makes the magazine look bad. I haven't seen this year's numbers from them (don't care), but last year they gave the TTS a range of $78k-$104k. The only rationale I can imagine for printing those numbers is that the magazine or its writers are trying to affect the market so that they can corner it. Even a mediocre TTS w/60k miles is probably 100k. I want to see the car that is 78k. And I'll take all of the "high" cars at 104k that they can find.

Anyway, thanks for posting.

Yes the prices seem absurdly low but the ratios seem right. I wonder if their estimates are biased by really high mileage cars which trade more frequently than the low mileage high priced stuff?
