Default Rufus passes smog test

Not really a surprise, but always satisfying when its done. Rufus (129,000+ miles) easily passed California smog. Whew.

As an aside, the notice for renewal came on Saturday, and its due on July 20th. Before the budget crunch, we would get our notices about 60 days before they were due. For sure my license tag will expire long before I get the tag in the mail, but I'm guessing that there is a long grace period before people get stopped.

Steve, when you go for testing, you can always say to the tech., "I brought my friends Rufus and Benjamin in for smog testing!". While shaking his hand.

If that does not work, you can always print a few of these, and slip him one:

Ummmm... thanks for the thought, but lets not discuss politics (or religion) here. That is what off-topic is for.

Steve,

Good for you! I know I always get a little nervous waiting for the test results even though I am running stock cats.

I remember one time when I was running the bypass pipes and the testing guy says, "this is not stock" and looks under the car and calls the turbos the mufflers! Whew!

California smog tests are not concerned with any changes after the cats... mufflers? We don't need no stinkin' mufflers.

Steve,

What smog station did you take it to? Did they have double rollers or just not use rollers?

I would think they just checked via OBD2 instead of sampling exhaust coming out of the tail pipes, in which case no rollers necessary?

Autos registered in Santa Cruz County don't use the "rollers". When I was In So Cal, Rollers were required with some exceptions. Those exceptions include AWD cars. They do a tailpipe test, but no load.

Steve, why did you think it might fail?

No particular reason... you never know about those darn readiness codes. But it has always passed without a problem. Just a bit nervous, I guess.
