Your thoughts on this 993tt
Hello,
Have anyone seen or know this car? Can anyone recommend a PPI and a shipping company near Haledon, NJ?
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...r_id=294895427
Any input/comments you can give would be a great help in my decision to pull the trigger.
Thank You

I don't know what a Protomotive 550 kit includes, but I would want to see upgraded rods, oil cooler and intercooler. Does a Greddy boost controller keep all of the knock sensor protection working?

Tons of us have been running/tracking this setup with no issues for years so its nothing I would worry about

the guys at protosport know what they are doing, so if they worked on it, I'm sure its at least done properly.
I also really like that intercooler cover treatment.

Of course. It does not allow the ecu to pull back boost however
I don't actually know what a stock setup does when it senses detonation. Does it pull timing and boost?
By the way your car looks FANTASTIC.

Except for the turbo's i have the same stuff - no issues at all. The boost controller is my favorite - cars flies on the high setting which on my car is 1.1 bar

With stock cams this engine is sub-500s to the flywheel.
The good news is that you don't need a change in rods or intercooler at those levels. The boost controller does not remove the knock sensing capability, the ECU typically cuts down timing and then boost if timing retardation is not enough to remove knock activity, the boost controller will not allow the ECU to cut down on boost, so here lies the risk. An improper programming can detonate your engine.
With the Protos, they seem to have mastered quite well the programming and their engines run safe and happy as long as you keep the boost controller within the parameters your ECU was programmed for.
You can run these wastegate controlled boost engines for a very long time without worries beyond the usual accelerated wear and tear of any other modified engine. You are however at the mercy of your tuner's progamming capability since factory designed ECU safety parameters have been cancelled.
