Videos: Thunderhill fun with forum members
Last week I travelled 700 miles from Seattle to Willows, CA and Thunderhill Raceway. Forum members Greg H, 911/Q45 (Don) and K24Madness (Tom) were there. Here are some videos of our fun on the track:
First up, Don "The Traitor" and his new toy, a ZR1 (we pass one of my other all time favorite cars, an F355 in Yellow).

You guys are my heros, and I live vicariously through your track exploits!
Deep down inside, I derived great thrill seeing a '97 Turbo pass a ZR1 and a Ferrari. Christmas came early.
Thanks for posting vids.

looks like the UMW 3.6 is running pretty good... may have to ask about more details from Kevin, I understand some engine builders prefer keeping things a 3.6 (vs a 3.8) for reliability.

Happy with the Vette so far. So many gadgets compared to the Turbo, nav, sat radio, memory seats, OnStar, stability control, auto headlights, etc. More leg room, slightly less head room(Turbo had delete sunroof), some blind spots, 20 mpg instead of 30 hwy, comfy but nonsupportive(at the track) seats. Driving impressions: feels bigger than it is, killer ceramic brakes, BIG POWER RIGHT NOW!, steering's a bit numb, great short throw shifter, just right clutch(feel and effort), bitchin' exhaust tone, Michelin run flat tires have good stick for a street tire that works in the rain.

What day were you guys there? Maybe the weekend, as none of you guys were there with the group I was instructing for 12/10.
Always nice to see Greg's car out. No way can I keep up on acceleration with the yellow car, but the difference from still streetable to not really streetable shows up in the corners.
I know you're leaving a lot on the table, but at some point you'll work your way up to a min speed in T1 of around 92-93 @ 1.2g. And probably enter it at about 135-7. (I only manage 127-8 in the yellow car.) Gets your attention!

Ken, we were there on the weekend with HOD. You must have been there with TEAM; I would have been there but did not have enough rubber to last 3 days.
And, yeah, T1 is a bit of a challenge for my fear factor. On braver days I've managed 85MPH; I think I was following Greg at the time
QC - Mine also gets 30MPG HWY!

The only data I have on this computer right now is from last month at the BMW school, and the "fast" lap is with my student's wife (first time on track) riding with me. New unshaved RA1s. 121 before braking into T1, 77MPH (gasp!) min speed @1.22g on a 2:04 flat lap. Fastest of any of the 15 laps was 123, min T1 speed of about 85MPH. So a peak ~2:00-:01 lap is over 125, but can't do 130, with a min speed of about 88. Spec Miata is 108ish, min 90.
