Used 993 TT Advice

Well I posted this in the regular 993 forum so please disregard if you see both.

Looking to buy a 993 TT but want to know if there is any difference between 1996 and 1997, reliability issues, ease of small modifications, ease of maintenance, cost of major repairs, things to watch out for, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

These cars certainly are expensive but how much are they really worth? I am looking at cars with 20k-30k miles and they range from low $60's to low $90s....This is quite a range!

AFAIK, the 1997 model has several small improvements over the 1996 TT:
1). A stronger 1st geat shaft (but still can't withstand a drag-race, side-step-the-clutch start)
2). An ECU that is easier to reprogram
3). a quieter brake booster pump
4). better turbo to intercooler hoses (most 1996s are retro-fitted by now)
5). a small light above the ignition switch
6). the sunvisors allow more room for a radar detector above the mirror (? not sure about this)

Most 1997 models are a few thousand higher than the equivelent 1996. How much are they worth? How much are you willing to pay?
