Alignment Questions
I am getting the car aligned next week, because I just got new tires. My mechanic is very competent with our cars. Is this about an hour job?
I know about the "kinematic toe" for our cars, but are there any others tips or things I need to be aware of? Thanks.
I do not plan to have the car corner balanced. Why are cars corner balanced?

Not sure of the technical reasons for a corner balance. But I just had my car done after the PSS10 install. My shop asked how much I weigh and what sort of setup I wanted. Track or Agressive Street. I opted for Agressive Street. I'm happy with the setup. Corners like it's on rails.

Corner weight balancing allows you to have nearly the same force applied (tire to ground) to all 4 corners of the car.
This is accomplished by adjusting the ride height of each corner to adjust the spring rates and subsequent tire to ground force.
Shorter effective spring height = increased spring rate = more force
This simplifies chassis tuning since you are starting from a known baseline.
If you "race" your car and like to fiddle with suspension settings, then do get corner weights balanced. If you're a set and forget kind-of-guy, and haven't done ride height tweaking, don't bother.
have fun.

What setting do you have on the PSS10's.
Did you change sway bars.
I put in same PSS10's with RS sway bars and interested in other RL'ers experience
TIA

I asked them to set the car in the middle to get a base. I believe the PSS10's are set to 5 on all 4 corners. I haven't had a chance to change them yet to get a feel for them on a different setting. I didn't change sways but did use the drop links that came with the shocks and put Rennline camber plates on the front and mono ***** all the way around. How do you like the RS sways? Have you played with different settings on your shocks?

Yes. The wear was not too even. The tires had about 6K miles from the prior owner, and 6k miles from me since November. So, the overall wear was not aweful, just concentrated on the inner shoulder, and slightly corded that area.

You are supposed to have uneven tire wear. If you have even tire wear in these cars that means your car is not aligned correctly With the right amount of camber and toe your tires will always wear strangely but your car will handle like it should
Corner balancing a car without monoballs is kind of a waste of money too since everything will flex under load and throw any balance you had right out the window
The alignment should take longer than an hour too
Who is doing the alignment? 75% of shops in the chicago area say they know how to do it but they don't (and they charge you for it)

^Hey Josh! My alignment will be done Friday by Fischer Motorsports in Barrington. Rick and Peter know these cars well, and have the proper kinematic tool. I called your guys up in Madison (Kelly Moss) and they sounded very knowledgeable too, but I did not want to go that far for an alignment on my new tires.
