good luck hans .... i'll be bringing my car to you soon enough. you should talk to switzer performance inovations. they've developed impressive performance mods for the 996 and 997 platform and don't have a relationship with anyone in the dfw area. their reputation is stellar and the price points for their packages is exaclty what the new crowd of 996tt/997tt owners have sought. gmg makes great stuff but no one wants to pay $5000 dollars for an exhaust anymore. i took my car from dallas to houston to get an spi package put on. here is a link to their site. good luck.

for this crowd (993tt), what does Manthey offer? I looked at their site but it was mostly in German other than the price list.

First, I love your car.

Ruf has tried to get me to do a Manthey conversion on mine. I haven't done it because I think I want to leave mine stock for now. IIRC, it's comparable to the Ruf Turbo R in terms of improvements in performance but was considerably cheaper. If I decide to convert, I won't have any problem going with Manthey.
