Default help me with my offsets.

i've done a search on here, 6speed, google and even called some wheel companies. i just picked up a black on black 993tt and want to purchase some bbs e28 (magnesium cast wheels). i was wanting to get 18x8.5/11 and run them with ps2's 235/315. here's are my questions:

1. should i go to a 9 inch front? does it give me that much more range in tire choice? will i regret going with 8.5 inch fronts?
2. what offsets should i pick for 18x8.5/11 for a somewhat aggressive stance:
a)et 43/40 per gert at carnewal
b)et 45/40 per gmp
c)et 49/40 per sales manager at hre
d)et 50/50 per damon at tirerack

as you can see there's some variability and i can't seem to get a straightforward answer. thanks.

Gert's offsets are the most aggressive obviously. Do you track your car? If you do, consider 245s and 9" in the front, depending what tire brand and type you want to use. Not part of your questions, but why magnesium? You can go for BBS aluminum, same weight and more durable.

Running a 315 on an 11 inch wide wheel gives you a bubbled out sidewall. This is not a great track setup. You want your side wall preloaded for best performance hence the factory 295.

Jean, BBS told me the new E88 with aluminum centers are actually lighter than the mag center.

Prety much ideal, IMO...

Front: 9" ET53
Rear: 11.5" ET48

Of course your suspension type and camber settings also need to be considered.

i don't expect to track my car jean. and im wanting the magnesium centers strictly because of aesthetics. i like how the fastners are exposed in the e28 and i don't like the deep scalloping of the spokes of the e88. thanks tuner and y65.

This is what their website says as well.

Irrespective of what you decide for the rears, IMHO you should go with 9" fronts as that will give you maximum flexibility and allow you to use tire widths that match the rears to minimize/offset understeer as well as keeping the front/rear diameter ratio correct. As far as offsets, you need to decide if you will be rolling your fenders, but if so then for the front you can go with ET40 (my front Gemballas are 9" ET40 which I switched from 8.5" ET45 with 245 PS2s) unless you are planning to go very wide (ie 255 or 265).
