The merc in the background is my fathers. its quick, but what an awful driving car.
Curious about your statement re the Merc. Isn't that the AMG version? What makes it so awful?

Parnelli, they are 18s.
Hal,
Yes, its a 2007 SL55. First, the car weighs 4400lbs, which is as much as my S-class. Its not a fun car to get in an out of, and inside is pretty cramped (my right knee is up against the dash) and I'm only about 6'. The car sounds really nice, but even 500bhp works kinda hard when it has to move so much weight around, making the car feel quick but not really fast. Not a slow car, but not as impressive as it should be.
The real horrible part is the steering and handling. The car shows its weight badly and the steering feel is nonexistant. You basically steer by educated guess. Brakes are pretty strong, but the feel is nothing like a porsche.
Now, this car will do 120+ plus on a highway rock solid for hours at a time, so its not a bad country crusher, but it is not even close to a sports car.
