I don't remember off hand. They were the factory mount for a 996 TTs. They gotta be at least 4 years old.

I'm guessing your suggesting replacement?

You cannot run non-matching tires on these cars. The cars are very sensitive to changes in grip front to rear based on tire compound and alignment. If they are not matching it definitely could account for all of your handling quirks. I run Bilstein HD's and M030 springs with new HTRZIII's 235/295 and I am very pleased with the handling.

Regarding the exhaust most folks with run a muffler bypass which takes about 50# of weight off the rear, improves spool, and increases sound without getting the pesky CEL. I run cat bypasses and have unpacked my factory mufflers (they are a straight-thru design anyway) and have been very pleased with the tonal qualities.

ok, so new tires up front. Thats no biggie.

I have fabspeed muffler bypasses on the car. Its still very quiet.

which cat bypasses do you have? fabspeed? Seems a bit pricey for what they are, no?

Thanks.

Yeah I have the Fabspeed. The don't fit very well either. Fabspeed has a new modular exhaust with bypasses that looks better but still it is alot of $$ since your car with lose HVAC heat by using just straight pipes.

Regarding the sound, if you are looking for louder at WOT, it is tough with turbo charged cars as the turbos themselves are rather good, too good, of mufflers...

If you have stock cats, then you may switch to 100 cell cats (not CEL that way vs cat bypasses).

The nice thing is that the HTRZ-III are rather inexpensive, so, yeah, replace the fronts so you have matching tires.

I have the HTRZ-III's on my Boxster and am very happy with them. Not quite as much grip as the pricier tires recommended for our cars, but very close. I will be using them on the Turbo when the current set of Michelins wear out.

Which tires are you running on the Mustang?

Still, the rear's are quite a bit stickier than the HTRZIIIs.

You'd need a Lotus Elise for a one-with-god handling experience.

However, after going with solid suspension bushings recently on the 993, it is oh so close to the feel of the Elise. Still, the Elise reigns supreme in the one-with-god handling realm.
