Default BATTERY TENDER for 993 TT

what kind do you guys use who store the cars in the winter? Any thoughts on the ones that plug into the cig lighter? Somebody told me that could cause a surge and screw up the electrical components. Is that true? If not, where can I buy one? Thanks much!

Default Batter Tender

I have used the Porsche Battery Maintainer that plugs into the lighter for over 10 years on my 993s without any problems. Performance Products sells them, but I am sure they are available elsewhere. One item to note - these only work on cars in which the lighter works when the ignition is off.

I used the Porsche one as well on my BMW and Porsche and it's fantastic...so easy to use...just plug it in the lighter!

I use the CTEK 3300 available on eBay for about $65. It's the same as the Porsche charger except I don't think the Porsche version has the AGM battery mode that you'll want if you ever use something like the Odyssey 925t lightweight battery.

I don't have the lighter adapter for mine but I wouldn't hesitate to use it. The dealer always does on new cars in the showroom so it must not be a problem.

Try the new Ctek charger 7002. It replaces the old 7000, and chargers much faster then the 3300 version.

+1

I have one for each of my 993s and they work great with the lighter adapter.
