any one else remove the rear wipers?
I removed my rear wiper and have the rear glass W/O the hole. Should I just plug the hole or replace the rear glass.
Any one else with this mod? Is it worth the trouble?

I would just plug the hole imo and save the $$$.
I recently ended up getting new rear glass without the hole but then your looking at $850 for the glass then a few bucks for the outer seal and install. Oh and if you do go this route I got THE last one in the country so do youself a favor and get the RS rear glass as it has to come from Germany anyway. Its lighter and cost about the same (if not the same) if you get it from sunset.
Good luck!

No way would I replace the glass, that's crazy. A bunch of us simply covered the hole with a painted plug... a guy here made a bunch of them a couple years ago and sold them for nearly nothing.

Based on your feedback I will have a friend make a plug on his lathe so I have a rear glass for sale. what's it worth?
Anyone interested? Make me an offer for my rear glass without wiper hole ( with defroster).

I just ordered rear glass/ wiper delete - from Porsche AG. There was choice of standard 993TT rear glass, and the marginally lighter, about 1mm thinner 993RS glass. The cost is about same (RS tad higher), but the thing with the RS is that it doesnt have rear defogger lines in the glass - just plain looking glass without the heat lines. So I went for the TT glass, rear wiper delete.

I debated this myself. If I was to remove the wiper (which I plan to) I'd get the RS glass. I wouldn't stand the look of that plastic thingy in the rear windshield. And what about security? Does the alarm go off if someone popped the rubber plug? Would it be easier to break into the car?
The RS glass is both lighter and better looking (no defroster lines). Who needs defrosters on a Porsche anyways?
Just my 2 cents..

Rain? Scott... you talk like a crazy person. Rain!
My solution for the rear wiper was a dark tint, and then covered the hole (both inside and out) with little, black vinyl circles. The hole simply disappears. I actually have that aluminum plug, but prefer the vinyl.

No rear wiper here. Made a clean looking black plug for the hole.
As with a few others on here, I don't use the front wipers either.

Ur right, thinner, lighter - about the same cost - so might as well go for the 'special!' RS glass! Hum.. Havent taken any opinion polls yet but there were couple of Porsche 993TT owners there, asked them to choose between the two, both said glass wud look better with the defroster lines in it.
Not that I drive my car in the rain, but your car is gona definitely stay away from any rainy condition, track or no track. No rear wiper + No rear defogger/defroster!

I would agree partly with the defogger part, that would be useful.
But other than that, I see no reason to get the 993TT part vs. the 993RS part. Personally (I've seen both in reality) I think the 993RS rear glass looks much cleaner without the defroster lines. Each to his own I guess.. And to reply to ScottMellor: Yes I do drive mine in the rain, I just never look back
