Default PSS10 for the Street?

It seems that many of you have Bilsteins PSS-10 (or 9's based on age), but I'm wondering for a car that will never see track duty (or very minimal), does that really make a lot of sense to do that upgrade?

I'm weighing my options between upgrading to ROW springs and HD's and going the full PSS route. I'm not sure what all of that adjustability would really buy me for my intended use (weekend pleasure car, occasional spirited driving on the twisties)

Anyone go through a similar debate with themselves?

Scott,

I have the PSS10 set up and really like it. Adjusting it is nice because you can set it up to your liking and leave it alone.

Or if you go on more spirited drives, you can firm it up. There is a big difference in the settings. And the softest is too soft.

I had the MO30 with HD set up in my former Targa and Cab. I enjoyed that set up too. But with the power of a TT and the ability to adjust, I prefer the PSS10.

Just my thoughts.

The cost difference between the two really isn't that much...might as well go with the 10's. Besides, you get so much more adjustment capability with the 10's. I'm having my installed this week!

Chris, where did you buy yours? About the best price I've seen is from TireRack at ~2500 bux or so.

What I would like to know is how many that have PSS9's or 10's actually make any setting changes after the initial set up? I would think that unless you are tracking your car, why would you need to change the damper settings. For street use only why not just go with HD's and ROW or H&R springs?

That was actually my original intention on the post. I read the posts that Simon lead me to, and realized that the adjustability would be a benefit to fine tune it to *exactly* what I wanted, rather than have to hope that I'll be satisfied with the results of a particular combo.

Or at least, that's what I've gleaned from the discussion so far!

Suspension comfort is so subjective

Some like it hard

Some like it soft

That's the beauty of the 9s or 10s

For me, I've changed the settings a few times until I found what I liked for the street and for the track

My settings were: 150 Front 150 Rear.

That's metric.

I've had my PSS-9s for 60K miles and have used the adjustment to compensate as they've worn.

I have changed the settings. And being able to find your proper setting(s), even if you don't switch it around all that often, is just as valuable as being able to change it all the time.

The price differential isn't really that great between HDs and a set of springs versus the whole PSS10 system in a box.
