Default Tire Question

What brand of tire are most of you running? I need to replace mine relatively soon, and I'm looking for recommendations based on:

1) Quiet (or relatively). I think tire noise is annoying as hell for some reason...call it a pet peeve

2) Dry grip. I will likely not drive my car much in the rain on purpose, and certainly not at the limit, so ulitmate wet traction for me is pretty meaningless.

I've had Michelin PS2's on my 996TT and liked them alot, however, it seems that 295's aren't the right size for a 10" wheel and would look goofy anyway probably. Is conventional wisdom to go with 285's?

Thanks,
Scott

FWIW, I also like the PS2's. Contis have really good wet traction but since you are not looking for that, I'd stick with PS2's. However, I don't think PS2's are available in 285 for the rears, so if you want to do that you would have to go with Pilot sport ribs. If I were you, I'd do 235/40/18 front and 295/30/18 on the rears. PS2's. Keep in mind that 295 is wide for a 10" rim although not too wide AND that Michelin have very wide tires compared to other brands. The rolling circumferance of these two wheel sizes are not too far from the stock ratio so the VC should be fine.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup (these came stock on the GT3) is available in your stock 225/285 sizes.

Check your PM.

According to Tire Rack:

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

295/30ZR18 98Y XL N2 (Porsche) has a "Rim Width Range" of 10-11"

295/35ZR18 (99Y) SL N3 (Porsche) has a "Rim Width Range" of 10-11.5"

295/35ZR18 (99Y) SL has a "Rim Width Range" of 10-11.5"

However, some 993tt owners have gone with 996tt wheels to get the wider 11" rear wheel.
