we did look at the 965 also but we had to go back to the warhouse to see them and the salesman only brought the keys to the "S" the 965 looked nice but was originally white and repainted black, i would not have been able to tell had he not pointed it out. car had 52k miles on it, we obviously didn't get to start it up

here is my two cents if it matters...having owned probalby 8 turbo S's in the last 4 years, i would say this car is not high 90s. will i get high 90s? maybe.
and maybe just waiting a tad will get a better example for similar money.
in the last 15 months i've bot:
1. zenith blue turbo S, i thin i t had about 22k miles on it...just under 100;
2. a dude from california had a 40k 993TS black, pretty darn similar to this car. needed turbo reconditioned, but sloan could not get 130,120,100...guy took it back. we chatted in the 90 range. it eventually sold for 75. the buyer reocnditioned it and tried to sell it. i cant guarantee thi si snot the car, it might be but i dont think it was...
3. i bot a artic/black 28k mile car for about 105, and then traded it against a red flatnose.
those are 3 well priced cars that in my estimation and belief in values of the 993TSs would say that a 40k mile car , without a PPI yet which might show clutch, turbo, brake or other engine issues....is probably maybe a tad high in th ehigh 90s.
a car of that kind of mileage, while its a turbo S, is really void of any real "collectors'" status. dont get me wrong, im not talking about the condition of the car or engine, which is deisnged to handle WELL in exccess of 40k miles. im just talking about what other collectors will offer as premium.
personally, i'd rather see you find a nice blk 993 Turbo , probably 10, 15less in price, and enjoy that. if its just for a driver, get a 993 turbo with far few miles. you can probably find a 10,15k mile car for 75, 80k. and beat the snot out of that.
just my two cents....

i cant speak to its condition but i like the options ,i like the mileage, i like the pricing. wall street down 900 points in 2 days maybe you et it cheaper.
if you can get an inspection, checking the turbos is critical. i forget precisely technically what the deal was but if they didnt have a "check valve" installed ,they could fail, etc. new turbos i think are like 2000, reconditioning costs abut $1300; service another grand.
but that color polar...my favorite silver. so so nice.
great color scheme.

the polar one: looks good but ppi required more important than turbos is leakdown numbers as block and head much more expensive than a mere 2k.
Not sure if I have seen the gas cap photo in an ad before.

sfbanchs, thank you for a kind offer. I was thinking on maybe getting 993tt in the Spring but came back to look at this car several times on ebay. Great color and price within reason but a history of accident. You do not have to go specifically to see the car for me but if you happen to pass by it would be nice to hear what the fellow rennlistr thinks. Agree with everyone that PPI with leakdown test is a must.

The question should be why wouldn't you want to drive it? These cars are meant to be driven. Porsche did not design and engineer these cars to see how well they sat in someones garage. Plus, the cars are generally better off mechanically when they are actually used like they are designed to be.
