Default UK DME in US car?

Hi all,

I have the chance to buy a '97 UK 430hp ECU for my car. It is for a Driveblock car. Does anyone know if this will work without issue in my US-spec '96?

Thanks in advance,

As I understand the state of play with 993tt ECUs...

A UK DME (coming from a RHD car which had the UK-unique PA1000 or PA2000 alarm system fitted) won't have drive block. These ECUs will work in any car but in a drive block equipped car the alarm light in the clock will flash because the drive block system isn't seeing the handshake it's expecting.

A rest of the world ECU will almost certainly have drive block and these ECUs will work in any other drive block car. However, they won't work in a UK RHD car because those cars have no way of sending the disable signal that the ECU requires in order to allow the car to start.

Charlie, if it's my ECU that's prompting your question I can confirm that it's a rest of the world ECU with drive block (my car's LHD, originally from France). If it's not plug and play in your car I'll give you a full refund.

Yep, I'm thinking about yours. I will have sporadic internet use for the next while, but I will be in touch in the next week or so.
