Default UMW stage 2 kit - up and running at last :O)

Well, having read about other peoples tuning tales of woe I guess my few paragraphs will read like a bedtime story.

Basically last week I have finally (after apx 6 months) managed to liase with my car to give it a good thrashing. Now i've managed to get some data from Phelix's kit and hopefully he will be along later today to publish the results. Unfortunately I only got one 30 minute chance on my private road to logs some times inbetween trafic and my intercooler hose popping off! (faulty NEW hose)

Quite simply the car flies. When you're starting with 400+bhp it's always hard to be subjective BUT i will go on record as saying that if it's not 15% more powerfull I will buy a hat and eat it.
The car responds just as it did with K16's but it's simply BIGGER. Pick up is amazing; 0.8 is hit by around 2700rpm in top gear. The wheels light up off the throttle in second (oh, and when 'trying' to do some standing/slow starts 0-100 I managed to slip the clutch in the first thee gears!)

It was never going to be easy getting my kit installed as I now live on one of the smallest inhabited islands on the planet measuring 3.5 x 1.5 miles at the widest points in the UK's Channel Islands. The turbos came from the states, the car is in the UK and the ECU programmer in Switzerland!

Overall i'm like a pig in **** . As i've said, i've no idea of the data logging results. To be honest they will probably highlight what was to be the worst driving i've ever done but we'll see.........

Edited to add that I tried a track day on Friday but the exhausts are too noisey - Anyone know of a free flowing system that isn't Miltek (superb quality) that will be less than 87db under full load?

Oh and a big thanks to Kevin for 1) producing the kit 2) putting up with hundreds of 'are we there yet' emails!

Yes, it's a very bad thing - driver error (under pressure to get some data logging done before my flight home!)
It was very hard to at the time to tell if it was wheel spin; until the smell made it's way in!
Kevin said I could do with a better clutch. Now i know why.

Congrats on the kit! Sounds like you have a fast car on your hands

Next time you take it to the track post up what you think of the new power mods!

I've already been; it wasn't much good as I was thrown off for making too much noise on my first lap. I was relegated to my friends Audi A4 130bhp Tdi - still managed to pass a few cars though :O)

Oh, I also need to mention that I don't have the 'standard' UMW2 program in the ECU. Are some deliberating between Phelix, Kevin and Gunther I have a lower boost program in my ECU. This limits boost to about 1 to 1.1bar.

Phelix should have the data any minute....
FYI, my car weighs less than stock; No sunroof and GT3 seats in place of the original arm chairs. From memory my car with FULL tank and no driver weighs 1450kg.
On the day I had half a tank of fuel and a passenger so I'm guessing it was around 1575-1600kg.

87db und WOT is really low. Maybe depends on the way they measure the noise level but not sure if a stocker 993 will pass?

On top of that it would be healthy to have a free flowing muffler for track use because of heat in the engine compartment.
Maybe you can direct the muffler noise in a specific direction out of the end tips like up or down where it is not directly measured?

Whats the stage 2 again? 16/24 ZCs or what? I have the stage 1, but can't remember what the jump to stage 2 was and think it was a huge difference.
Thanks

OK, some initial stats:

a 60 to 126 mph run took 72.22 - 62.89 = 9.33 seconds
max boost was 1.254, average under load was 1.05 to 1.1
max IAT was 46 deg C

The 60-126 time is v good considering you were two up. Extrapolating from the acceleration in 5th the 60-130 time would be about 9.9 seconds.
