993 TT fuel range
Hi chaps my 993TT only returns 12.5mpg not a problem from what ive read, but it only will cover about 200 miles on a tank,if the low level light comes on I drive it another 20ish miles and refuel gauge is on the stop empty,at that point i can only get 55ltrs in to the brim, ive got a 75ltr tank is this normal,ie potentially 20ltrs left when gauge shows empty, any help would be good

sounds about the same, perhaps its different to the non turbos due to poor economy figure, at the usual couple of gals reserve probably only 25mls range with low fuel light on.

I always managed (with spirited driving) around 300 miles per tank so you're either lead footed or somethings a drift in the back.
@ 56mph I've managed 35mpg. @ 75 it's around 28mpg and at normal motorway cruise of 90 or so it's 22mpg. Around town maybe 15

Hi dudes,
I, like gary11 on this thread, dont mind poor fuel economy from a supercar. I never expected it to be as good as my old 964 c2, but 11.5mpg to 17mpg is very poor, especially when ACE_PArts is saying 35mpg in some conditions....i have never seen this in the 3 months i have had my car.
So factory specs say 10-14L per 100km which is 16 to 24mpg....so it looks like mine and gary11 are not performing to spec....
Where do i look for clues as to why? I have an OBD2 reader now with the ability to read o2 sensor values etc... Just don't know what normal looks like for the various readings.
Why am i asking? Gasoline has just hit $10 per UK gallon!!!
thanks,
Taj.

It could be the MAF or primary 02 sensors. I'm replacing both, and expect to see a significant increase in mpg as the car runs rich at idle and low revs.

300 miles on a tank is that a 92ltr one?,my old 993,in fact my last three have all only managed 275-300 on a tank std size,I wouldnt have thought a turbo has the same economy?

I think a full sevice, fresh plugs, air filter, ect ,get code read and clear any old fault codes, check you have not got oil in the intercooler ect,as I am convinced that is my problem ,I feel it is definately affecting boost and mixture,am having oil feed check lines fitted as we speak so will let you know economy figs aft,am showing now 13.6 mpg round town and 25mpg on a run! any major discrepancies would throw the c/e light.
