I had mine done last year by a local shop that can weld stainless. My main concern was they would looked hacked at, but they look factory after the mod.
We (he) removed the wool and took out the U pipe or something. Maybe he made a pipe bigger. All I know is the sound is awesome and I never had to send them to the USA and pay a lot of money, for what I think is the same thing!
But I had the mod done when I got tired of the noise from the Bypass pipes.
There is no resonance, just a real bark when you open it up.
Great, cheap mod.

You don't have any before and after pics of the opened up mufflers do you?

Ronnie,
I just spent ages going through my old emails looking for the pictures, but just find them.
I will keep looking and PM you if I find them.
Cheers

Timely rejuvenation of a very interesting thread. I've been thinking and talking exhaust note and mufflers for a week or so. I have "sport exhaust" on my 3.8 Andial style rebuild. New to me (and loving it) but not sure exactly what exhaust that really means. I bought a pair of Techart mufflers off a lister and I think that I'm changing directions to Robs S-Car-Go modified mufflers. Any experience out there with either of these two fabricators? Any photos of their guts?
Intriguing, the science behind the sound.
Thanks

You might want to check with the other Andial 3.8 owners out there, but from the old Andial 3.8 build sheets I'm pretty sure that they use Techart mufflers in their builds. So most likely "sport exhaust" means that you have the Techart mufflers already..

Are you still after this info ??

I did an internal modification of my factory mufflers.
Have pics, diagrams, and sound files. ....somewhere.
Will go looking if you want them.

Default J pipe no mufflers at all

I run FVD J pipes. That way you are removing the muffler assembly completely from each side. The turbos act as mufflers. Remove 40lbs from behind the rear wheels. No heat sink next to your lower valve covers. It is a win In 05' I paid $350.00 for the pair. The tips are included.Car has the most amazing sound.
