Ok. I think CJ was saying that if a TT muffler needs to be cut to fit TTS tips, the mufflers aren't the same (I was of the same mind). I guess we didn't think the factory just cut down a TT part to use on the TTS.

Hmmm, just thinking out loud, but using the Turbo S tips would eliminate the restrictive donut at the tailpipe connection, which steps down about 1/2" in diameter (36% reduction in area). I wonder if this is significant in terms of overall flow on an 993TT.
I do like the look of the TT-S tips...more purposeful.

Hello chaps
I've recently bought a 993tt engine to put in my 930, it seams to have the "S" tips on it (one of them is damaged as it came off a salvage vehicle), is there a chance that this engine has had the 450 bhp kit fitted? What do i check to see if it has? My luck usually isn't that good but i guess it's worth checking! Here are some pics of the engine (It wasn't me that wrote 4,5,6 on intakes 1,2,3 )

The 450 kit has K24 turbos. If you read out the serial number on your turbos we can identify them.
I see that the engine has no spark plugs, be careful in doing a proper clean up job and thorough check up before starting it, oils, gaskets, etc... Anything might have gone through those holes to name only one potential source of issues.Check the case very well for cracks as well as a result of the accident etc..
I would get rid of those mufflers and put a bypass, it will also make yourlife easier to fit the engine and save weight at the same time.
You got yourself a nice project at hand, enjoy it!

Thanks Jean, the engine should be with us today but it might be Monday depending on the delivery company. The plugs were removed to do a compression test apparently so hopefully they will have put them back in for transport! It would be great if it had the 450 kit wouldn't it, i'll try not to get my hopes up!
One of my main worries looking at the pics is the right hand muffler is bent up, what potential damage could that have caused?
One last thing, as it's going into my 87 930 do i need to keep the CATs, being an older car it won't come under the same emission scrutiny in the UK as with the 964t that first had them fitted. Just wondering if there's any advantage in loosing them all together?
