Default BBS magnesium

Just got my BBS magnesium wheels 18/10 and 18/11 and was just wondering how the front wheels can weight a pound more than the rear?

Are you sure the rim halfs are the same thickness for both fronts and rears. BBS makes different thickness halfs depending on application and car weight.

Thanks, I never thought about the center hub thickness. These are factory GT2 wheels. I'm going to weight my street speedline mags. as well and see if the same is true for those.

unless I'm reading them wrong, 0198 front and 1098 rear. that's the number that is stamped on the center hub opposit the bbs casting. hmmm, I thought that was just a production date. shows what I know.

those numbers are the production date of your wheel center

0198 is the first week in 1998 and 1098 is the 10th week in 1998.

The actual wheel type will be stamped into the wheel near the hub opening. It will be a long number, something like 02208039. I can't remember exactly, but something like that.

I’ll check the numbers out tomorrow. As for a picture of the wheels on the car, that will need to wait for a few more weeks. The car is at the body shop getting the GT2 flairs installed. But ooooooo so close to being finished. I’ll take a picture of the wheels and post those tomorrow as well. The only picture I have that I could post right now is a picture of the motor when it was on the dyno. Check it out 3.8 twin plug with garrett gt30 turbo’s.

Go to the "upload photo" link on top of the page and upload your picture. Copy the link given to you and then click on the "insert image" little icon (the mountain picture), then paste the link there and you're set. Any engine dyno numbers that you can share?

Thanks Jean. I gave that a shot but the pictures are larger than 200 so I don’t know how to make them smaller. You wanna help, can I send them to you???

Dyno numbers are not astronomical but I’m really happy with the outcome. The car runs soooo smooth and does not feel strained.

Dyno numbers: 574@11psi. 706@16psi with a spike to 19psi@6600 to 7200 to achieve 700+ if that makes sense to you. I got one track day in at the end of the season and was amazed at how cool the intake temps were at 11psi. It never got hotter than 5 degrees centigrade over what ambient temp was. And that’s with speeds reaching 270kph on the front straight. Forgive me as I’m not to computer savvy but I would love to upload the data log to let you guys see. I never did any testing on higher boost at the track that day as time was limited.

PM sent. Please send me the datalog files if you wish as well, I will be happy to look at them. Those numbers are very strong! What sort of gauges and sensors do you have on your car, are you using some sort of logger (Zeitronix etc..) or just gauges?

I’m at work right now but I’ll bring my lap top in tomorrow morning and send you that file as well.

Right now all the data logging is done through the motec. It monitors ambient air, intake air, and duel lambda, and a bunch more, but these are the ones I’ve been keeping an eye on.
I have the AIM MXL dash to install with a david video logger as well but I ran out of time last season.

Jean, since we’re on the topic of dyno numbers I’ll quickly touch on a topic I was talking about a few months ago. I had this set up on a dyno pack AWD dyno and watched this setup do 550hp awd@11psi. (I know that’s not good for the viscous cupling but the cars going 2wd so if it blew out not a big deal) now if I use most tuner shop numbers I could say this setup made 660hp with a 20% correction factor but I know better having a real dyno sheet. That’s why I’ve lost faith in most wheel dynos to be used for anything other than as a tuning device.
