Actually, I am going to clean the bottom of the engine at my mechanic's shop on Saturday and he is going to do it for me. I will have driven 20 miles to get there so the car should be good and warm.
Thanks for the thought, but I'll let him do it for free... :-)

By the way, I love your TT's color combination. I was VERY close to buying another Rennlister's car in that color combo, but ended up staying true to Guards Red for the third time in a row.

Sonny,
We thought that too at first, but once he cleaned the engine completely off and ran it up to full boost several times, it became apparent that the oil is coming from one place and then getting blown around as it drips down towards the heat exchangers. Again, though, it took three years for me to even smell it as those pics I posted were from 33 months ago and I just discovered the smell.

Hi,
Need your help on a oil leak on the oil tank bracket (where the thermostat and oil filter holds). The oil tank has 2 pipes connecting to the bracket that have a sealing ring inside. One of those pipes is leaking as you can see on the photos attached.
From your experience, is this just a question of replacing the ring? If so, how easy it is to do it? Do I have to remove the tank or the bracket can come off alone?
Thanks for your help!

I have not had a chance to play in there much (yet), but if you can get it off while disturbing the minimum amount of connections, do it that way. If you cannot get clearance, then pull the tank, it will give you a good opportunity to do some cleaning anyways.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi,
My 993 started a small but steady leak at the same location as yours.
I noticed that you posted this a while ago.
How did it go?
Oil Thermostat Leak from the Joint
Has anyone replaced the sealing rings ( 993 207 225 00) at the joint?
I could use some advice!
Thanks in advance.

Yes, that was fixed back in 2016! Still have the photo of the culprit. Is was easy to fix but my problem was that the pipes to the front radiator So stuck, didn’t want to get out. With a hammer they got out but it took about 45min to get that out. Replaced the Black o-ring and problem solved since then. The green o-rings also got replaced.

Thank you for responding to my post.
My leak is from the red circled location. There are 2 tubes from the oil tank to the thermostat so I will need to replace both seals for the connection points.
Hopefully, I don't have to use a hammer to get these off but I will be ready to use....
I am going to order the seals (993 207 225 00) first and see what happens.
Once again, thank you for your help.

The black o-Ring is for that same location. The leak on my car was on that same location. And yes, you will need to take the thermostat out and, to do that, you will need to remove the front tubes.
You might try removing the oil tank but it will give you more work.
good luck and let us know how it goes.

I'm getting ready to do this seal replacement soon on my 97 C4S. I snugged up the bolts temporarily to slow the leak down while i wait for parts. Are there torque values for the various bolts here?

I ended up posting at "what did you do" thread.
Basically, I loosen straps for 2 oil lines to the oil cooler all the way to the front wheel so that I can pull the lines away. Reverse order to put together.
loosening the oil tank made it harder to pull away the lines.
Sorry for not updating you!
