the lower turbo is driver’s side, note orientation of sumps, the driver’s side turbo has the sump tank orientated so the writing can be seen from behind the car, and the lower oil line opening is pointed to the back of the car in each turbo when mounted

reinstall turbo

sealing rings orientated with lip on the ring away from the turbo (both on the manifold and cat side)

I cleaned the oil line attachment sites to have good fit/reduce chance of leaks


Have to think about what piece to attach first to allow best position of line

Driver’s side oil check valve/supply line has an extra 45degree angle piece to allow it to fit.

attaching oil supply line to check valves – take care not to cross thread!

And don’t forget to sinch up the bolt on the angled oil supply line piece on the Driver’s side

replace turbo inlet/outlet hoses
muffler bracket harder to replace – check valves in the way!, I used an variable angle allen with the ball on one end from the side

Don’t for get to put the heat shields on before the O2 sensor and to put the turbo heat shield on prior to attaching the bolts on the cats/turbo – you can see from last pic that I found out the hard way…


whew, hope this is useful to someone...



This has been great fun



Now you have to break in the turbos if you got the ZC type

will post about the Kevin’s switchable ecu/programs when I get it and have it working – I may be the first one to get this new gadget! And I do like my gadgets…



Next up on my list of DIY – oil cooler, clutch/lwf, surpentine belts
