Just dug up this thread to stick the photo below in it....

Have never seen any data from Porsche about the 993 turbo's lift numbers other than the launch quote of zero lift at 150mph/

The chart shows lift at top speed ~185mph as ~20kg

The Porsche number doesn't really ring true with the independant test done by Sport Auto where at onlt 200kph (124mph) there was already 17kg of lift:

It's the effect of the engine tray at high speed lessening the rate at which the lift grows.

Interesting reading about our old cars and aerodynamic. Have a car with sunroof and hate it. Driving on the autobahn is not so fun because off the high noise (earplugs recomended ) and the a-pillar sound is also to much sometimes. So mounting RUF A-pillar spoiler will be next on the list.
Have anybody tried to weld the sunroof and paint the roof or is the only way to go and change the hole roofpanel ??
The front end is the problems on lifting in high speed and wondering if any have good experience with the RUF front bumper ?
What about GT-2 EVO bumper ? Don`t have the GT-2 fenders but anyway just wondering.

I suspect tb993tt will chip in soon but Ruf would seem to have admitted that their bumper is not for aero but more for looks.

The Turbo S front and rear spoilers are probably as good as it gets.

This is what I know of the Ruf as well, however the rain gutter fills work at reducing wind noise some, I have them on both my 993 cars

Biggest issue is air through a rear wing element - the 911 roof design is such that a wing *must* be placed higher than stock to work effectively - that is, to generate true "downforce"

I know tb993tt has said that Marc Bongers at least admitted this to him. But in his book Porsche and RUF-Sportscars, written while he was still at RUF, Bongers describes the CTR II nose (shown above) as having been ... "reshaped for more front downforce and to pass more cooling air ..." Ein klein konflikt, nein?

Our Friend from Sweden asks;

The front end is the problems on lifting in high speed and wondering if any have good experience with the RUF front bumper ?
I have had some good luck running fast with the Ruf front bumper.

The mold in our friends picture may have been splashed from a genuine Ruf part but the side vent triangle cut looks plenty lame.

Cheers

The mold in the picture is a GT2-EVO bumper, not RUF..

The RUF bumpers are unobtainable, I think.. There was someone here on RL who used to make very nice reproduction bumpers but stopped due to copyright issues AFAIK.. Too bad.. Love the RUF stuff

Very difficult to remove the sunroof, best to find a sunroof delete car. Rare in the states, but more common in Europe I believe.
