Can anyone identify this exhaust?
I recently picked up a Turbo and it has an obnoxiously loud, ill-fitting exhaust. I'm interested in replacing and I'd like to be sure to not get the same thing as this piece of crap.
*Note: Any spots that look wet are, in fact, wet. I had just doused the underside of the engine with a few cans of brake cleaner to remove road grime and oil residue from an old leak.

Those pictures are the cats, from the last picture it looks like you don't have mufflers but muffler bypasses. Do the tips attach directly to those pipes? If so, then you have muffler bypass pipes, that's why it is so loud. The PO took the mufflers out.

Here is a picture with my rear bumper removed, notice where the mufflers are, one on each side. If your car does not have them, then you have bypasses. You need to take the bypasses off and install mufflers if you don't like the sound.

I think the piece you are focusing on is the can that directs the fresh air from the fan around the exhaust pipe and then into the heater boxes. This is all stock stuff. Yours has a few dents, but its just cosmetic damage. The exhaust routing is from the turbo exhaust, to the catalytic convertors, to these heater cans, and then to the mufflers (or muffler bypasses). Its a lot of stuff crammed into a pretty small area. I like the bypasses better than mufflers for these reasons:
o better sound (that's a subjective call),
o lighter weight with the mufflers gone,
o better cooling of the turbos with the mufflers gone, and
o less backpressure should yield a couple of horsepower.

yep, what Steve said above. Looks like you're missing/taken off the sticky protective coating on your engine (forgot what it's called but often gets mistaken as something that shouldn't be there)....some people don't like how it looks so they take it off/wash it off, don't know if there are any really long term negative effects....

Yes, that is part of your catalytic coverter (the long pipe with the big end). You have muffler bypasses on there. It eliminates the muffler and uses an exhaust tip directly from the cat.
FWIW, I had muffler bypasses at one point and I took them off because I thought it sounded somewhat "sloppy" IMHO. I put on a set of cargraphic mufflers.

Thanks for the answers, guys. It's a moot point now. I was rear-ended this morning after pulling out of my driveway, so the car will undoubtedly get a new exhaust.
