Another questions for the experts...

GT3 Heads

First, will they fit?

if they do, Any benefits/ downside? Would you recommend it? Thanks.

i know its a old thread, i just searched for gt3/gt3r cranks and this popped up, gotta love rennlist! they fit, they are half the price of the 993 turbo crank( in the uk anyway) £1700 v £3400. the gt3 cranks are fully counterweighted, the 993 tt 1 isnt. you have to change the rods as they are wider were they bolt onto the crankshaft compared to the std crank. i asked the same question on the cup car rennlist forum and a few guys said ' yes' they are still the crank of choice, i wasnt sure as i hadnt built a gt2 engine since mine several years ago. have a look at the gt3r crank thread i started there, some of the guys give great info on there.
also the gt3r oil pump is a good upgrade, i used the std 1 and im going to upgrade

regards mark

Nope, different platform(water cooled remember?). On early GT3's which this thread is all about(crank) the crankcase is very similar, you can even use it with some mods to it, that's it, from the cyls up it is water cooled, cheers.

Just stumbled across this old thread and wanted to share my experiences running 993 NA heads and crank in turbo configuration.

Using a stock 993 VRAM motor we swapped stock rods for arrow, gt2860 turbos, welded and flame ringed the heads, kept stock high compression pistons and added DC21 cams (very similar to RS grind).

Motor has been running strong for 7+ years, did a few track days to shake it out, recent leak down perfect and compression 185psi across all cylinders.

With the higher VE of the heads, cams and VRAM you get great flat power with low boost and high compression. It does need race fuel to keep it happy though. I've run it up to 14psi without recording knock on 110 fuel. I current cap boost at 8.5psi with EBC Based on the previous 8-6psi tapered dyno it's safe to say I am getting close to 500 whp at 7,200 redline. Power delivery is very GT3 like with a bigger kick.

Todd at Protomotive was the brain child behind this. His brilliant tuning made it all possible.
