Post Right Price for 96 993TT

I have located a car which matches my wish list and then some. It is a 96 993TT with 8600 miles. The car is a very low option car, no aluminum, carbon fiber, no fancy stereo. Pretty much unmolested.

It is the exact color combination that I want. I was not seeking such a low mileage car, but at the right price, who knows!

The car is in the SF Bay area. What is a fair price considering todays market?

Thanks,
Hal

Hi Hal - assuming it has been maintained appropriately for such a low mileage car (i.e. annual service, tires have been replaced at this point), then maybe 75K.

Bill,

That is exactly what I was thinking.

The car was originally listed at 89k and now they have lowered the price to 79k.

I might push for a little bit lower becuase of the few number of options.

Keep in mind options like sport seats, cf interior, etc can add up quickly.

Sport seats alone are about $3K.

But 75K definately sounds like the right ball park.

Thanks for the input Jeff. I was thinking of going in at around $72 and see what happens.

Hal - It never hurts to ask.

Jeff - I thought I read somewhere that the sport seats were only a few hundred dollar option beyond the supple leather seats. The full supple leather inmterior I think was a several thousand dollar option. Of course, you are correct that sport seats can go as high as $3k used. The seats I tried to buy off eBay are still for sale by the guy who beat me to the punch. Last I saw he was asking $2700.

When I bought my car in mid 95 the sport seats were a no cost option.

Hal: I would be more than happy to go "check out" this vehicle for you (assuming you are not in the Bay Area). ZCAT and Jeff 993TT might be interested too, if time/location permit. Just let us know.

If you are looking for PPI suggestions as well, let us know.

Good luck with this vehicle!

Dan,

Thanks for the offer!

I live in Los Altos and have already been down twice to look at (and drool over) the car. It appears to be very clean.

I checked the service records available. There were annual servicings in 97 and 98. Then a service in 01. This is a two owner car and the second owner has driven very few miles (probably less then 1000 over the last 2-3 years).

I will continue to investigate!

Hmm - 3 years without a service - that would bother me a bit. Was it put into a proper storage mode during that time?

At a minimum, the oil should be changed once a year (per the owner's manual). This, in and of itself, should not be "fatal" to you doing a deal. But you will want to be extra diligent with the PPI. The selling party is not opposed to you doing a PPI, I trust.

BTW, I'm still happy to drive by and take a look at the car to offer my 2 cents worth.

We look forward to your joining us on some morning drives! :-)

Dan
