Hollow-spokes: how heavy? How much$?
I'm looking to replace my stock 1996 TT hollow spokes with some aftermarket wheels. I'm thinking of the Fikse FM10s. While I'm not going to track the car (I swear, I swear), I kind of hate to put heavier wheels than my stock wheels, just out of general principles. Anybody know what my wheels weigh? Any aftermarket wheel weights?
In order to be able to rationalize spending even more money on this newly acquired car, I'd probably have to sell my stock wheels. They are not perfect, have a few light paint scratches and some tire mounting scuffs on a couple of them. How much might I reasonably be able to expect to get for these wheels?
Thanks for any help.

Check out this link for hollow spoke weights:

I don't know what the weight of the Fiske's are, but do a search on the 993 board. There was a very intense discussion a few months ago about 18" wheel weights.
The hollow spokes are pretty light wheels already. Be warned that some wheels are _significantly_ heavier. One example are the RUF wheels. They look awesome, imho, but couldn't bring myself to put on heavier wheels on my car.
As far as resale, I bought a new set of hollow spokes a year ago for about $1600. I've seen them going anywhere from $1200-$1800 without tires.
If you have fresh tires on them, then they'll go for more.

Here is a site with wheel weights on it.

The FIKSE's are about 22 lb in your size. If you want to come over and weigh one, my 18X11 is off the car and tireless on my workbench right now.

Hi Steve. FWIW, my stock Turbo twists are over at Wheel Enhancement right now. They're taking a few nicks and scratches out and making them look like new. When they took the wheels off the car, they said one of the rears had some minor cracks, and they suggested replacing it. They're charging me $550 for a used replacement. They said that new rear wheels cost $1200 from Porsche.
What to do with a used wheel that works great off the car? Put it on the ground, face up. Put a piece of heavy glass over the wheel, and Voila! A Porsche coffee table! Worth every cent of $550 plus the glass. Now if only my wife would let me put it in the living room.

Thanks for the help. I got the weights of the hollow-spokes and the Fikse FM10s and also the BBS LM from Wheel Enhancements. They also suggested that my wheels should fetch between $1200 and $1500. I think I'm going to make an offer on those Fikse wheels, and if all goes well, I'll probably sell my wheels for the $1200 figure.

Hey Steve,
You will like the look of the FM-10's on your TT.
