You can replace the bulbs yourself, if you can find them from a supplier. If the problem is missing LCD segments, it's too specialized and you'll need to try Palo Alto Speedometer. They also have difficulty. I sent them mine twice, they declared defeat and I ended up spending $1000 US for a new tach.

Sounds like the bulbs then. There are 3 or 4 that you should be able to change if you remove the tach and take it apart. You'll have to remove it first, then take out the bulbs and try to match them at an electrical supply house, unless someone has a source.

Many years ago when Waldo went in for his wiring harness recall, he came home with that display lamp burned out. "Coincidence", said the dealer. Whatever. Mike Schatz removed the steering wheel, removed the tach, replaced one bulb, and 'poof', all better. Took about 30 mins, start to finish. I don't recall the bulb being anything special... looked like those ordinary "baseless" instrument bulbs used elsewhere in our cars... but I'm an old geezer with zero recall.
