I'm a little surprised that my gas mileage seems quite low compared to my '96 C2 cpe. I haven't had a chance to measure it exactly, but the computer says 14.5. I suspect it is a fair bit lower. I was getting around 17mpg w/my '96 and aggressive driving. I haven't driven the tt as aggressively as my V-1 just got here today, and I'm being careful as I get use to the car. I just want to be sure I do not have a problem I'm not aware of.

Also, the manual is a little confusing, but it seems that the gas tank holds 24 gallons. Is this correct? I'm not sure why the reserve is different than the C2/4.

My 96 993tt get the same mileage as you do with mixed city and highway driving. Mainly, 12.5 to 14 in the city and 17 to 20 in the highway without aggressive gas pedal punching. My 97 993tt does exactly the same as well and both cars did those mileage with the stock and the FVD ecu's so you're not off. As far as tank capacity, the guru Viken can probably enlighten us better but I believe it is more like about 20 gallons including the reserve. Hope this helps and keep the grins going.

Sorry got carried away. My 96 TT gets about the same gas mileage.

Too true, which is why I indicated that I was wanting to make sure I had no unseen/known issues. OTOH, I also thought that most of us here take the cost of filling the tank as a minor inconvenience more than anything else. Especially if you have spent any time in Europe.

This is my daily driver as I can't stand not to. While my being able to own it is no accident (I make goals on purpose) I do, certainly, appreciate my being able to do so. LIFE IS GOOD.

As a follow on, page 151 of the manual indicates, in the same paragraph, capacities of aprox. 19 gallons and 24 gallons. Perhaps a missprint??

On a side note, is the computer resonably accurate in determining fuel remaining? (don't want to run out of gas, but sometimes it's nice to know how far you can push it)

Porsche offered a <a href="http://64.35.111.106/cpx_p93019.htm" target="_blank">92 liter</a> (24.3 gallons) optional (M545) tank on ROW models while North American cars came with the standard 75 liter (19.8 gallons) tank.

I'll address your "side note". In my experience it is reasonably accurate (anecdotal rather than empirical observation). The indication recalibrates continuously or every few miles or minutes based on the changing driving conditions. So if you know you have a huge traffic pile up ahead and if you have been flying, then you better not rely on the gauge reading. On the other hand you might end up panicking unnecessarily if you are caught in a jam and the road ahead is clear. I prefer to use up the old fuel a bit before refueling but perhaps not a good idea to run it so low that you end up clogging the fuel filter. As regards normal mileage obtained, I think you are probably fine.
