Question How to identify Solid vs Hollow Turbo Wheel?

How to identify Solid vs Hollow Turbo Wheel?

I am buying a used car and the owner is claiming to have turbo-like hollow wheels. How can I tell if these wheels are hollow or solid? I read a post that said the solid wheels will have ridges behind each spoke and the smooth stems are hollow. The solid wheels will have a plastic stem valve and the hollow will have metal stem valves. The owners is claiming the opposite, that ridge = hollow wheels.

Anyone out there know the answer?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Goobu

I have a set of solid turbo twist wheels on my 88 S4, I'll take a look tomorrow and tell you what the deal is with them.

Very simple. Pop one off and look at the part number.

Your info is right. Smooth is hollow, rippled is solid. Metal valve stem is hollow, rubber is solid. I know cause I've owned both.
