Post 93 Octane in a TT

I'm seriously looking for a 993TT. I've read in some posts that Porsche recommends 95 octane fuel. Is this true? I can only find 93 octane here in Atlanta and thats what I run in my 993 Cab.
Thanks!

Doug

93 pump octane in the US is just bare minimum for the 993 Turbo. It will, however, run with lower octane fuel but with slightly reduced performance.

And I guess additives/octane boosters are no good 'cause they won't mix?

Yes, additives are not recommended. Here's an excellent read on fuel octane, etc.

It's not that they don't mix, they are just not very effective. I mix 91 (California) with 4-5 gal of 100 for each fill. But, the car runs fine on 91 as long as the temp is cool - under 80 deg. On the other hand, 100+ temp and 91 Octane take away almost 100 HP. I never had any probkems with 93 when I lived outside CA.

(octane numbers refer to US octane numbers here)
Doug,
Since you have 93 octane available, I see no need for any additive/booster. 93 is the minimum octane recommendation as mentioned by Viken and my guess would be that it is minimum for all reasonable conditions in this country including pretty hot days (perhaps not the outlier temp. points but most normal conditions). I could be wrong but Porsche is not overly aggressive in claims and thus the conclusion. Also, Mark has stated that the car will run without much loss in colder weather even with 91 octane. So 93 octane must be fine. Personally I use 94 octane only but thats because it is readily available. Additives and other boosters, regardless of whether they help or not, dont seem to be needed given where you live. All the best in your search for your 993TT.
