Post my 993 turbo and online tests

hi you guys,

I am a proud owner of a European stock 1998 993 Turbo in Arena Red!!
View pics under:
<a href="http://www.gate1.dk/993t/pages/993%203-4%20front.htm" target="_blank">993 Turbo pics</a>

a great car: only upgrades are so far a Techart steering wheel and thinner sport seats!
check out my online car-magazine, where I compare in "the new GT3" article the 993 Turbo in the end with all the contemporary models :

<a href="http://www.sportandperformance.com" target="_blank">SPORT and PERFORMANCE</a>

How do you like my conclusion in the "Next Update GT3" article?
does it make sense ?

Please <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> me what your experiences are with a 993 Turbo and 993 Turbo mods, and which ones are recommendable...

Thanks and enjoy! <img border="0" alt="[byebye]" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" />

PS
don't hesitate to read the other articles of SportandPerformance as well, especially the "New GT3 racing in Leipzig" Video is a must see!

I am absolutely happy with that TT! (of course the sky is always the limit). Therefore I consider installing some mods in order to prep the car for my various track days..

By the way,
..congrats to your new m3 smg since we just tested one on Sportandperformance..
I am happy to have you as a regular reader..

whenever you hear about experiences of 993 Turbo mods, please let me know..

I am also a new owner (6 months) of an arena red 1996 TT. It has 53,000 miles on it, and runs perfectly. Previous owners have installed ROW springs/shocks, B&B exhaust, killer stereo, window tint, and a front strut tower brace. I have added the Gemballa ECU, aluminum pedals, and the RS short shift kit.
I am envious of the cleaner look of the euro models, but my car is a keeper!

Congrats on your car. Enjoy.

hi ca993twin,

welcome to the club, and thanks!

Tell me do you race the TT on tracks? Since you have a stiffer suspension than the stock 993Turbo, your TT should be better suited for it!

Did you ever experience the difference in ride between stock and ROW springs/shocks?
I heard that the front strut tower brace improves turn in behaviour, so a really good mod you got there!
and last but not least how much better does the TT sound with the B&B exhaust?

by the way what does ECU stand for?

Greetings

Duke,

No track for me. I've sworn it off. Really, I mean it this time. The suspension changes and most of the others were done before I bought the car, so I have no "before & after" comparisons. As far as the exhaust note, I feel that the B&B does very little to improve the sound or performance of the turbo. I'd like to use a catalytic bypass, which will gain a lot of performance and richen the exhaust note, but my wife made me promise not to mess with the exhaust. Yet.

ECU: You probably call it a DME. "Electronic Control Unit", the main computer. They are easily remapped by various tuners for higher performance... mine was done by Gemballa and is around a 450HP tune.

Again, your Euro trim looks so great. Too bad you have to use that front license plate. Nice web site, by the way. Great photos. Are you a photography hobbiest?

ca993twin,

Thanks, we actually call the ECU "Steuergerät" in German...and I am only the driver, tester, writer and editor of the website, a friend of mine does all the photography, layout and appearance! But your comments will flatter him..

Get some sportcatalytic converters, they improve sound and performance at the same time..

See ya
