Default 993 turbo wheels

Having my '96 993 turbo wheels redone. Too many scuff marks from tire changes (70,000 miles). Brought them in to the OEM Porsche dealer. I was thinking my wheels looked like aluminum with clear coat when I brought them in. After, was told they came from the factory painted, not clear coated. Would like to get the correct answer of how these wheels came from the factory. Any help or direction would be great...

They are painted. Lots of places can restore them to like new. Where are you located?

Located in Green Bay, WI. I hate to sound stupid, but when you say painted...do you mean there is aluminum, then a coat of paint..not a clear coat? Sorry, just want to be sure. Thanks again for any help. If that's your rig...wow. Nice color choice and the venting looks like something the Porsche guys could do something with.

Stupid,

They are aluminum then painted a glossy silver. There seems to be some sort of thick "filler" material under the paint... I think. Since yoiur wheels are hollow spoke, the refinisher must be very careful to not allow any debris to enter the inside of the wheel vis the valve stem hole. Wheel Enhancements out here in So Cal are experts at this, but there are many others.

Thanks four comments on my car. It is a Ruf Turbo R with the Ruf CTR bumpers. Here is a better picture. Porsche only "wishes" they had these vents . And yes... I'm nuts about Arena Red!

Default Just realized

You don't have your front wipers on your car. Looks great without them. I had never thought about taking them off. Obviously, it doesn't see rain.

Looks Cool

Be sure to check your wheels for trueness before spending to refinish. Most with that mileage are bent.

Just run them on a spin balancer and watch for the wiggle.
