Kevin has a reasonable price on new, large diameter, 100 cel cats. Be wary of 100 cel cats that are too small to be effective... they are NOT all the same.

Tony,

Thanks... my new avatar is a worked over photo taken by Melissa, Pong's daughter.

cosmicman993TT,

Your signature doesn't mention where you are located. I assume you have normal emmission laws?

Two routes to more exhaust sound; 1). remove the mufflers entirely and replace with Fabspeed (or GHL) muffler bypasses. Thses are really simple to install, save some weight, allows more cooling air for the turbos, and reduces after-turbo back pressure a little. 2). contact kevin (see his user name and click on it and send him email) for a nice 100 cel cat. These are more expensive, and more difficult to install, but make a very nice sound and reduce the back pressure more than the muffler bypasses. Oh... they also save some weight. I need to add.... if your car has normal mileage, the standard cats may be getting clogged and thus you may need to replace them anyway. If this is the case, then the 100 cel cat might be your first choice, despite the expense and installation difficulty.

On my car, I have both... the Ruf 100 cel cats and the Fabspeed muffler bypasses. Some feel that the car is too loud. I like it.

Fabspeed Muffler bypasses will be more than loud enough, though they have a resonance between 2400 and 2800 rpm

cosmicman,

I believe that Ruf, FVD, CarGraphic also have 100 Cell Cats available. Are you sending email to Kevin? PMs? Phone Calls? He's usually pretty good about answering questions. Kevin@Ultimatemotorwerks.com

Hi, I bought mine from Turbokraft. They are large and free flow model and don't affect to MIL light. Ask Chris, you'll find his email from turbokraft.com page.

I've been running with muffler bypasses for almost 2 years and was reasonably happy with the sound. I fitted 100 cell cats over the weekend and drove the car for the first time yesterday. It's a fair bit louder at idle and stays louder under load whereas with the stock cats and muffler bypasses the car became noticeably quieter under load. It's not too loud for my ears but I felt it was unsociable to have a car that noisy and will be fitting some TechArt mufflers.

But, like with many things, it's personal preference.

I'll be selling my muffler bypasses as well. I just replaced them with the Cargraphic mufflers and I really like the sound although the turbos do seem to take longer to spool then with just the bypasses, but then again that could be my brain over anticipating the effects of the mufflers.
The sound is a lot quieter and more "sociable" . I really didnt like the boat sound and the resonance of the bypasses. I might jump to adding 100cel cats along with the mufflers to get that "perfect" porsche sound (to my ears at least).

Rufus, no emissions problems with the 100cel cats? I'm in the environmental dictatorship state of Californian too

Mike,

Oh... I remember meeting you when you first brought your fabulous, virturally new new 993TT to ViperBob's driveway. Mostly, I remember your GF, but the car was smokin' hot too! Rufus had no issues passing smog with the Ruf race cats. Back to biz... how's the GF?

Hi Steve,

Its good to see you're still a staple of information and entertainment on rennlist I remember you taking Waldo in for Bob Special treatement, lol. The GF is good, the car is not so good. Need to replace the slave cylinder . Other than that, the car is actually great. My goal is rack as much miles as possible and yes it looks and smell brand new still After a coat of Zaino, grown men were in tears and drooling...including me. We truly own an eternal classic.

Cheers!
