Porsche Club of America is starting a special interest group (SIG) registry for 911 t
Porsche Club of America is starting a special interest group (SIG) registry for 911 turbo models and would like you to join. Any Porsche turbo owner from 1977 to 2005 is encouraged to enroll in this club. Once the interest group is formed, I would like you to then join your local PCA chapter (if interested) and the Porsche 911 Turbo registry.
The PCA Register Program is a new opportunity for members interested in networking with owners of specific Porsche models.
The PCA Register program was established in 1995 to encourage closer relationships within register groups in PCA. The program allows PCA members to network with others in their specific area of interest. Sharing of information fosters restoration and maintenance of member's automobiles. A register can potentially provide a new resource for historical displays at Parades and other PCA events, along with information for articles in PANORAMA.
If you are interested, please email me at pca911turbo@kpmgllc.com

Some of the people on these boards are also members of the PCA (like me). The PCA is designed to offer what the boards offer and more; nationally hosted and choreographed events, local chapter meetings and events, weekend outages and get-togethers and even a Germany visit to the Porsche manufacturing plant with your own Porsche 911 for 8 days and nights

I'm not sure I like the sound of "weekend outages". That's when I like to drive my Turbo! The last think I want on a weekend is an outage!

I dont understand what this turbo registry is trying to do - especially as it is not a 993specific group. For example, ive seen a 930 registry as it is more specific.
Im sure everyone here is a PCA member and many of us do PCA DE events.
How does joining this group translate to anything?
not trying to be difficult, but i dont get it.

Rob, thanks for asking .
We are trying to bring the 911 turbo family together within the PCA and to gather new participants. We turbo owners want to have our own place within the PCA and show official representation at parades, rallies, concourse events along with national and local events.
The scope of a register must be meaningful, i.e., not too broad (911 Register), not too narrow (Metallic Blue 911E Register), therefore all 911 turbos are welcome.
One nice thing about a well managed registry is it will be a place you may go for information as well as social information. For example, data collected from registry member may be sorted by specific models representing production numbers, location of cars by state, how many examples of each colors, options, modifications, or any other interesting statistic we may gather and report. These data points will be official Porsche numbers and registry’s numbers.

Our goal is not to replace or stop you from coming to sites like this. These sites are very valuable and offer something PCA does not. This registry group is going to supplement your social, technical and professional needs.

Oh, but don't you want to do an organized wine tasting tour...lol

as i implied in my question,
I would only care if the group was specific, e.g. "993 TwinTurbo registry".
As said, i have seen the 930T registry, but all turbos since the beginning of time, is not worth it.
