Digital speedo/computer went dim
I was just driving along, and all of a sudden noticed that the whole thing went dim. It was a nice bright yellow and now it's dim to the point that you have to squint to see the numbers.
Went up and down through the menu, turned lights on and off and nothing changed.
Any ideas?

As Peter said you can check the bulb. But if you do a search about the OBC, you will see that the dimming light may lead to the diode.
Warning. When attempting to remove your speedo, make sure that you disconnect your battery. Prior to removing your steering wheel. If you don't you will trip your airbag light!!

Just a thought - can you get at the OBC light bulb while the tach is still in the dash by pulling the speedo? Seems you might be able to reach in through the speedo hole, pull the tach out a bit and rotate for best position. I'd rather not mess with the wheel and airbag if I don't have to.

Had my display go dim then not at all. Unfortunately it was not the bulb. Sent to N Hollywood Speedometer who "repaired" it for a reasoable $95 ..... except that it still didn't work. Hergesheimers in Lake Forest CA sent it out to someone they know who repaired the circuit board ... otherwise a costly replacement.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but my display is great except for one verticle line which intermittently goes dim...
888 then looks like 883
it's a PITA but is it worth fixing?

Going to have it looked at real soon after an attempt myself at it.
I guess if you get used to looking at the speedo, at least when you drive a Porsche without without the OBC, it's not that bad.

If the display works - and it is dim - then you have a blown bulb - you need to disconnect the battery, remove the wheel and stalks, etc. to get the tach out. Then you can replace the bulb. Just don't forget to disconnect the battery.
