Unleaded race gas
I still haven't gotten around to buying the 55 gal drum of race gas to mix with my CA 91 oct. gas I get here in Napa my question is will I feel a noticable difference with mixing the fuel so I get the higher oct. by putting in 5 gal. of the race fuel with the 15 gal of pump gas? As you all know the race fuel isn't cheap and wanted to hear from other TT owners who have done the mixing to see if the performance increase is worth the $ spent. I suppose I could run over to Infinion Raceway and try a tankful to see what it does but thought I would ask others who do it to see what they think. Thanks Doug

It would be interesting to hookup a data logger to your car to see what the knock sensor count is with 91 octane. You've got some serious power enhancing mods on your car, I wonder if you are getting the most out of your investment???

Doug,
If your engine has been mapped to operate best at 100 octane or so, it will certainly make a difference. The race gas will let you run higher boost levels, and cool better the engine. I tried the C16 fuel (leaded) the other day at 30% mix or so, it did make a difference (1.2 Bar) although not as much as expected maybe, as my car has been remapped for 91 octane. Seeing that you have K24ZC turbos, I would guess that you see the occasional 1.4 bar of boost, race fuel is recommended at anyhting more than 1 bar.

Thanks for the replys I bought a Harrison R&D OBD-II scan tool but haven't tried to figure out how to use it yet I know that I can plug it into my port on my car with it hooked up to my laptop but haven't tried to do this yet I'll talk to my mechanic and see if he can help me try to figure out how to utulise this tool as you all have figured out by now computer tech is not one of my strengths. I can't speak for your programming, but I can say with Kevin's (Gunter's) programming there is a HUGE difference between 91 and 95 octane. It is clearly obvious to even the butt dyno.
BTW - Infineon has 96 octane at the pump and its only 4.59 per gallon. It's cheaper than blending 91 and 100 at their pumps.

There are some gas stations (a Union 76 to name one that I can think of) that sell 100 octane for $4.59/gal. To my thinking, that is a small price gap from $3.00/gal 91 octane. I usually let Rufus drink his fill of 100 when I get a chance to fill up. Your car REALLY needs 94 or 95 octane... plus!

I do not think you can run LEADED gas in your car if you are still running
the oxygen sensors, etc. (Jean's Protomotive car can probably run
rocket fuel if he wants--knowing Todd).
Can anyone comment on this ?? No C-16 (like the Supra guys run) I believe.

I can give you a non-scientific answer to that. I don't have catalytic convertors for one. However the only reason I use leaded was because that particular day there was no unleaded race fuel to use. I will not use it regulariloy since more than the cat contamination, it is the lead deposit that I am worried about on the turbochargers and about every other "organ" in the engine. Long term bad, short term no issue if you use it for a few runs. My mix was about 30% C16 (117 octane)/70% 91 octane unleaded.
Don't use leaded.

like jean said, about a tank or so of leaded is fine because the next couple tanks of unleaded wash clear up the o2 sensor from what ive been told, dunno how sensitive it is to cats though
