Peter,
My almost new clutch is so stiff, you almost can't depress it until after you start the car. I'm told that its the clutch accumulator that needs replacing. More stuff to spend money on! Your performance improvement is most likely the result of the lightweight flywheel, which allows the engine to rev up (and down) more quickly. This is a real nice mod. A clutch can last almost indefinetly, depending upon the skill of the driver, and the type of driving that's done. There is someone on this board that lives in San Fran (with all those hills), and still has the original clutch (and brake pads) with close to 150,000 miles. That is one hell of a careful driver!

Actually it is the slave cylinder assembly I have been told. They usually swap it out with the accumulator (the bomb). I'm going to try to replace the Pentosin instead - maybe that will help?

Just back from a test drive with a 996 GT 2 with 525ps RS-Tuning kit and 750NM torque. Club Sport with cage, nice short shifter and stock body work.
Streets were partly a bit wet so spinning wheels in 3rd very easily
The car has virtually no turbo lag and a VERY broad torque curve from like under 3k rpm up to rev limiter.
All in all I still was a little bit disappointed in 5th gear WOT but otherwise a great and fast car. Not as fast as Jean's beast but OK.
Trade in would only be like 40k euros, hmmmmm.

No, I did not manage to get it into 6th as it was worst rush-hour and raining.
Nevertheless the seller tried to entertain me and showed me some nasty things that you can do with the car
He totalled his own stock GT2 a month ago with 200kph as he kissed a tree. It seemed not to bother him a lot
I am going to have some other test drives as this is the only way to get the real feeling of the cars differences.
cheers
