Default 225 or 235s...Any difference????

Does it really make any difference between the 225s and the 235s? Anyone used both and can comment?

In my opinion, yes. I have tried both, and tried 245 in the front, and I like it MUCH better as it makes the car more neutral, all else being equal. A little more tramlining, which you can reduce through toe settings (tip from Viken)..A little more rolling noise but worth it.

The 235 sidewalls stick out more and protect the rims from curb rash and pot holes better.

Not relevant to Jean's RWD car but I seem to remember reading that the front and rear rolling diameters should be kept to the same ratio in the interest of the AWD system.

In theory the front 225/40's have a 9mm larger diameter than the rear 285/30's. Go to 235/40's and that diameter difference goes up to 17mm. So the rears need to be larger as well, no?

These are obviously theoretical diamaters that don't take into account tread wear and diameter changes with speed and effects of rim width...
