Evolution Motorsports Stage 1
Does anyone have any experience with Evolution Motorspots Stage 1 upragde?
They claim 470hp / 470 torque... If anyone has tried this upragde, what is area under the hp/torque curve like? Lag? Turbo spool? etc.
I'd appreciate any input.
Kind regards,
Ziad

Ziad, you will be lucky to get 430-440 hp and only if you use higher octane rating.
With your current K16s which will not be modified, you will not suffer from more noticeable lag, it all depends how well they map their ECU as well. I would go for suspension if I were you at this stage.
IMO, the day you decide to upgrade, do it the right way, going with turbos, exhaust, oil cooler, and ECU aong others. Don't be fooled by the so called "dealer" of EVOMS in Bahrain because he has an 800hp car, if anyone plugging a preprogrammed ECU in your car calls himself dealer, we would all be dealers of something
Once he gets a dyno, and does his programming or testing on the ground and knows how to troubleshoot, then he *could* call himself a dealer.
As a friend, I cannot advise you differently, sorry.
Best

Hey Ziad, good to see you here as well.
I do agree with Jean on doing suspension and tires first, then brakes and only then take the slippery slop down engine modding. If your heart is set on an engine upgrade, I'd go the factory route as canysmc illistrated. Gert in Carnewel is one of the nicest people around and he takes the time to talk to you even if you're just asking about something.

Thanks for your input
Jean
As always, thanks for your input and valuable insight.
Khalid !
Good to see you here finally. Thank you too.
You know what guys, you are all making me realise one thing, for me, there is truly only one way to go - RUF Turbo R conversion -> the hard part now is convincing my wife... Well, I have at least 18 months to work on her, by that time, RUF will be established in Bahrain!

Ziad - i started a post about 2 months talking about a Ruf turbo R and trying to decompose it. I still think that $25k for the conversion is a bit high and Ruf is a very, very good marketer of himself. The real question is if we can recreate the Ruf package for alot less with the same degree of reliabilty. After all even the Ruf package is 7 year old technology.
If you or anyone else wants to have a version of a 'group-buy' for Ruf-type programming or other components, then im definitely interested as the Turbo-R is my goal as well.

That installation isn't too hard to do. You don't need a porsche expert to do it. Porsche offers the same thing, but I think they charge quite well for it.

I'm definetily interested in finding out more. $25k is very high, yet it appeals to me partly because of the 2-year warranty you get with it, but also, in Bahrain we have an high number of Rufs and I hear that these cars are truly bullet proof in every sense, this in my mind adds to the appeal. The other thing is that a Ruf badge carries it's weight (I know, I'm a sucker for marketing)... There again, I would like to find out more...
I know this is off topic, but what's a Billet Diverter valve and what does it do?
Kind regards,
Ziad

Ziad,
I'd love to scrape up the bucks and do the Ruf conversion on my car. I'm wondering if 68,000 miles is considered too many. About diverter valves... not O.T. at all. Here's my understanding... please correct me if I'm wrong: A diverter valve is used when you slam the throttle shut (like when shifting) in a high boost application. All that pressure needs somewhere to go. Some cars vent that boost outside, and you get that distictive "whoosh" sound. Porsche vents the excess boost back into the exhaust stream to keep the tubo spooled up. Our cars come with inexpensive plastic diverter valves... some people feel they are fine, others feel that they can degrade and leak pressure out of the intake. A billet diverter valve is much more robust, not too expensive, and seems like good insurance to me.

ca993twin thanks for that. I agree, I might just get me one of those.
I remember when I 1st wrote to Ruf to find out about the cost of a Turbo R conversion, they mentioned that the cost was subject to engine mileage, but I gathered that at the end of the day they will do the conversion regardless.
You seriously thinking of getting a coversion done?
Kind regards,
Ziad
