itching for wheels...... tire size question
#16
I run a 235/295 PS2 combo on the street. I just got some 9 and 11" wheels (they seem to have the widest range of tire combos, I like the PS2s so much for the street, I doubt I will run anything smaller. YMMV) which I am running 235/285 Dunlop SSRs. I have not been to the track yet on this combo so it should be interesting. I'm investigating running a wider set later (265/315?). I'm hoping Toyo RA-1s come out in the right size/shape as it would be nice to try those vs. Pilot Sport Cups. Failing that, I'll probably run Pilot Sport Cups as my next set of tires.
BTW if you are just starting out on DEs, PS2s are really good on the track too. I got about 14 days out of mine....

EThec...I just replaced my 225/285 Pirelli Asimmetrico with a set of PS2, 235/295, on 8.5" front rims and 11" rears. Cars handling is terrific, with quiet softer ride.

that's the size i was originally considering. now i'm thinking i can possibly go with 245/305 or 315. which ever sizes i end up with will be wider and should be better for comfort and handling

You really do not need anything bigger than 235/295 for the street. I tracked for 17 days on those tires and they worked just fine until much more extreme conditions than the street. Anything bigger for the street would probably just be for bling more than anything...IMO.

Just put on Fikse Mach V wheels. 235/295 PS2s on 8.5/11.0 wheels. Haven't had a chance to drive hard yet or take photos. So far pretty smooth and quiet. Photo of my car is from Wheel Enhancement site. Description on their website says Black, but car is Midnight Blue. Dave must be colorblind.

Lookin' gooooood! I'm dying for my wheels. Kinesis promised them by 2/7 and said it would probably be sooner. Hmmm. That means they should arrive today, right???

Lee,
The wheels look great, but I'm so surprised that you would do a non-factory upgrade to your car! What's this world coming to? Next thing ya know, you'll be at the track!

Steve, I needed new tires, so what the heck, might as well get new wheels. After all, who wants new tires and old wheels.
And I had my car out at the Willow Springs big track before you bought your TT. Maybe I'll take it out again one of these days. I'll need to see how the lighter wheels and bigger tires handle. And I can always throw on the Fabspeed Muffler Bypasses for the track, although I'd miss using them as a paperweight.
