Bill,

Your car seems to be an exception. None of us seem to be able to nurse more than about 22 mpg on the hiway... right foot is not very involved in a steady-state drive. We're probably using about 40 HP to drive the car at 75 mph. I wonder what is going on with your mods that makes it more efficient?

Steve,

I tried to talk you into the Toyota Prius, you just wouldn't listen. Have a good weekend!

Steve,

Sorry to be so late in chiming in. Things are crazy at work.

During my drive to the Rumble, roughly 280 miles round trip, steady state at 80 mph in 6th (2,800 RPM). According to the on-board computer, I averaged 28 mpg for the trip.

A few qualifiers, my car is about 3,000#. I have the aero A-pillar insert, and the aero side mirrors, I also have the RS splitters and side skirts. They mostly help with the down-force, but does provide a touch of slip-stream aero effect as well.

For a 426 HP output engine, that is pretty amazing gas mileage I dare say.

Around town I'm lucky if I get 12.5. Around 18 on the freeway. One quart of oil every 3k.

13.5 around town, 22 on a trip running at 80 mph with the cruise on. I bet I could do better if I wouldn't have those occasional "bursts".

interesting thread.

on autobahn i average 9.5 and max at 7.5 on 150 miles trips.

with cruise at 80 i got 23. did it only one time because of bad traffic.

i think the problem is not the mpg but the small tank.

perhaps the taller 6th gear would help me a lot

I've been using my TT to comute to work this last week and as I get to use a virtually empty dual carriageway I've been playing with my cruise control to see which is the best speed / economy (I know it's boring but I can't do 180mph runs so something has to keep my attention!)

At 56mph - 33 to 36 mpg
65 - 29 to 32 mpg
75 - 25 to 28 mpg
90 - 22 to 24 mpg

Around town 12 to 18 mpg

On the track it's around 11 mpg

My car is UK spec and perfectly standard with the exception of the Techart exhaust.

11MPG???? I get about 5MPG on the track. On the highway, I have been getting about 9-10MPG. That is because the only time recently it has been on the highway is in my trailer being towed by the dually.... It will be that way again as I am going to the GGR event at Buttonwillow this weekend...
