From your states website:
The Secretary of State’s office keeps records of the traffic violations and accidents you accumulate while you are a resident of Illinois. If you are convicted of a traffic violation while driving in another state, it will be included on your record as though it happened in Illinois.

I don't think any of the DMV databases are shared between states? Anyone know if this is still true?

I think it depends on your state, certain states are 'reciprocal' with other states, but not all (hope that makes sense).
