Intercoolers - anything new?
For years the gold standard for intercoolers was the Secan GT2 IC. While talented folks such as Basal Skull and Tacker have fabbed their own are there any commercially available products worth pursuing these days? Not sure if the Secan is still available and if it were, it was $30K? over ten years ago?

Great question!

Also, what’s the currently best intercooler with stock rear spoiler and stock MAF and manifold? Based what I’ve read, the factory stock units are extremely difficult to beat without changing the space envelope.

Indeed Secan IC is the gold standard and still is, the folks at Andial back then also did a good IC job for their 3.8 twin plugged 993 turbo and fits under the stock wing.
Even today the Andial IC is still unmatched for hi-per street 993tt. Nothing new out there since.

Stock 993 TT IC on top with the 997 GT2RS intercoolers below. The 997’s are much larger
Plenum
test fitting, there is only about 1 1/2” on both sides to fit the end tanks, which is not enough room. I think the only
solution is to narrow the plenum down to give me me more space for the end tanks. This photo is with the tail removed
and turned upside down.

Was reading some of my old posts. Had fun making those

logging the data was fun too, except my track times were kinda slow,, I got down to about 10 faster per lap faster eventually

I don’t think there is anything new out there that is specifically made for our cars. What is new(ish) are the intercoolers used on the 997 GT2RS, 991 GT2RS and the new Turbo S. Those cars all have over 600 HP, so Porsche must have engineered the IC’s for that much HP. Back in 2017 I bought a pair of used 997 GT2RS intercoolers. My goal was to try and build a stock looking unit that would fit under a stock rear wing without any modifications. I built a plenum similar to the stock IC and test fitted it to the new IC’s. Because the 997 IC’s are larger than the stock unit, it leaves very little room for the end tanks. I think with a little imagination I could make it work. Other projects of mine got in the way, so that project is on the back burner. Maybe someday I will jump back on this and finish it up.

997 GT2 RS coolers are same as 997.2 turbo S
