Default Durability of 993 TTs

Looking to take a leap and trade my work horse 996 NA for a 993 TT. My intentions are to drive the sucker almost every day and and probably at least 1,000 miles per month on most months. It will also be relegated to outdoor parking to due limited garage space.

My 04 996 NA is perfect to me in every aspect for a daily driver except I miss the turbo boost, the wide body and the looks of a turbo. Any of you guys using their 993 TT as a daily driver and putting a lot of miles on these cars. Any reliability issues with doing so especially when parked in the elements and not in indoor climate controlled parking.

Doug,

My 993TT has been my daily driver for 3 years, including snowy days. It is parked outside all day while at work. It's also seen 25 track days, with no reliability issues other than a turbo hose that blew off under sustained boost. It was easily reattached.

A 993TT is a fine, reliable, low-maintenance daily driver, if you don't mind the limited storage space and low ride height. None of my leather or carpet has significantly faded despite the outdoor exposure. Good luck with your hunt.

I drove mine to work daily for 5 years, parked outside and covered during the summer. No problems and it still looks great after 55K miles.

Bought my 97 turbo in 98 with 3K miles. Has been a daily driver since then and now have 126K miles...still with original clutch, rotors, and brake pads! No track time. Has been rock solid.

I bought my 96 TT in Nov. of 03 and have put 9K trouble free miles on it over the last 6 mo's. I have really enjoyed it as a daily driver I bought another car as a toy so I'm selling my TT. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to buy it so we can keep it in the family as I know this one is a good one and its more fun than her NSX.

The only major cost difference between the turbo and the NA is the tires. My carrera is closing in on nearly 24k on a set of rear SO2s and the turbo needs new rears about every 8k

msw,

Excellent driving record... 126,000 miles on the original clutch. You, my friend, are a driver! Congratulations.

My TT has had four owners and now has 62,500 miles. Perfect. Original clutch, but I can't take all the credit for that!

Robust and rock solid. The most amazing high-performance sports car ever built. (ok... I'm a little biased)

when you park it outside put a car cover on it, you wont have to wash it as much, safer at night, keeps rain water off, and no sun damage

Steve,
Thanks for the compliment but its the car not me (and alot of highway miles!).

I agree that covers made a big difference preserving the cosmetics of the car, especially in hot climates.
Regards,
Mike
