Default Gear / Tyre noise

Hi all again. Bit of a strange question, but i've been racking my brains trying to decide if my gearbox is noisy or not. It has the first gear issue which in all honesty doesn't appear to be an issue at all. I've been wondering if the noises i've been hearing are in my gearbox/head or in my tyres! The whirring etc noises can occur at almost any speed in any gear - even neutral then almost dissapear when running on smooth tarmac!

I've come to the conclusions that the g/box does make some noise so wondered how many other owners have an audible gearbox?

Have any of you got a 'drilled' airbox - does it sound good on a TT?

I'm currently running 38 psi rear / 32 psi front. Sound about right?

THanks in advance

Alan

The drilled airbox doesn't quite work the same in TT cars as in NA cars.

There are other "custom cold air intake" systems out there, but they are pretty pricey. My suggestion is that you save your mod money for other things.

If you want sound from your car, then I'd suggest that you get a set of muffler or cat bypass pipes.

Jeff,

Have you put the muffler bypasses on yet? When I left the meet last week, there was a polar silver 993TT in front of me with the bypasses and in idling, i couldn't hear my own car!

Not yet Mike... Got busy at work.. Acutally the garage is full of parts that need to go in.. Seats, harnesses, muffler bypass pipes, fire extinguisher, etc.

I'll probably have some time next weekend to put it all in. I'm doing taxes this weekend too...
