Default What OEM parts to keep?

Over the years I have done a number of basic reversible mods to my car like PSS9’s, RS sway bars, Cruf wheels. With 105k miles this is no longer a low mile garage queen. Downsizing to a smaller house and don’t have as much room to store the original parts which I’ve kept. My inclination is to trash the Monroe shocks, sell the original bars, keep the original wheels, mufflers and batphone. Make sense or a mistake? Any market for original springs? Any thoughts appreciated

agree with your thoughts. If the oem springs are turbo specific, I might keep them (maybe), but if they are just a regular 4wd 993 spring, i'd junk them.

You will never put back the original shocks - those are junk. I kept mine for a few years after putting in the KW's and then recycled them. The original bars will sell since they are heavier than the stock NA bars, so someone will likely want them. Wheels, mufflers, batphone - yeah keep. Not much of a market for the original springs, you can keep them (I have mine) but in all reality, you will never use them. The PSS or KW system is so good, and those shocks are designed to work with the attached springs.

Did something similar with my car. Agree with your thoughts on what to keep and what to get rid of.

I keep everything thats original to car except the used up stuff.. you never know what the buyer wants. I think the worst thing you can do to these cars is modify them to the point they cant go back to original. but I just have an opinion like every one else

The original Monroe's make a great shelf anchor ie weighting down the bottom shelf so you don't have to worry about it tipping when you put something heavy, like a jack, at a more convenient higher level.

Doug,

Would you be interested in selling me your OEM 993TT mufflers? My car came with the original mufflers but some PO hacked them up to put Turbo S tips on them via cutting and welding...no idea why. Anyway I’ve been trying to get an original exhaust back on it since I bought the car back in 2013.

Thanks!

Ian

Keep the wheels, mufflers and springs, loose the rest. That's what I would want if buying the car.

The batphone is a horrible piece. Looks pretty but then you realize right leg position is compromised. I dumped mine. RS Sways are a nice OEM upgrade. Nobody on their right mind would want to loose those. Springs just in case, likely die on the next guys shelf too. Mufflers are subjective so definite keep. Same with wheels.

You have to cut the rear boxes to fit the turbo S dual tips although they should be clamped on, not welded.

This is something a previous owner did that I’m trying to rectify by getting new OEM mufflers and reinstalling regular wide-oval turbo tips that I acquired here years ago for this project. You can’t reinstall the ovals on cut mufflers, which is what I have...

sorry Ian but I think I’m going to keep them. All moved and stashed away. Good luck on finding some

Doug: I am keeping all my stock parts too. If i ever sell the car (very doubtful), the new buyer will want those. Well, maybe not the lousy Monroe shocks..... Pat
