Default Odometer stopped working

I was driving home the other day and noticed that my odometer on my 1996 993 Turbo stopped working out of nowhere. The trip computer and other functions on the digital display under the tach still work, but the odometer is stuck. I did a google search and found plenty of info on regular (non-turbo) 993 odometers having the same issues and how to fix, but nothing on if the fix is the same on the turbo or somehow different. Anyone have this issue and what was the fix? Funny thing is this happened right after the car reached 38,993 miles on the odometer. It is now stuck between 38,993 and 38,994 lol.

The fix is the same. Worn out gear in odo. You can DIY but little bit of work. I changed all the bulbs while i had the speedo out. P-car.com has instructions. Pelican has the gear for sale. Good luck!

A local shop can fix, If not send to Hollywood Speedo & fix, Maybe $150? DON"T put on title or go anywhere till fixed, LAST thing you want is a Brand on miles with Carfax, I've seen it, Cost you a lot on a 6 Figure Car...

totally Agee - that’s exactly what I did. Immediately on mine given it’s a collector with only 17k miles ... Parked it immediately, took the ODO out, took it down to Hollywood Speedo and it was rebuilt by next morning... Best $150 I’ve spend, not worth jeopardizing the status of the car... IMO.

Only when supported by a stack of chronological service documentation is odo mileage at all meaningful. Indicated mileage is completely untrustworthy on the late aircooled cars due to the failure of that little derlin gear.
